CBSE Launches Learning From Practitioners Program For Teachers: On-the-ground experience, professional practice, and rigorous action research in classrooms and schools have the potential to translate into evidence-based principles, policies, and systemic education reforms that inform and guide the overall education ecosystem. It is important to learn from micro experiments and develop avenues to discover and adopt new solutions to systemic challenges.

Hence, CBSE is launching a “Learning from Practitioners” program where affiliated school educators and teachers can apply to share about their work. Participants will be expected to conduct practical/tests/research on major challenges/problems of practice in education/schooling. CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) will select and support the best innovations through a network of grants as well as mentorship.

Standard Operating Procedure

Round 1

  • Candidates will submit their applications through a central portal.
  • Innovation can be presented under some of the broader themes listed later.
  • Candidates are encouraged to apply in one or more of the above focus areas. They can also submit a miscellaneous application.
  • A team of experts will shortlist the program applications. The evaluation will be done through pre-determined and objective criteria. All the applications that align with the criteria will be shortlisted for the second round.

Round 2

  • Shortlisted candidates will submit another round of artwork including feedback from the school ecosystem and community.
  • Shortlisted applications will undergo a round of review where the proposed selection can be done virtually through interaction with the applicant.
  • The 25 finalists will be selected after Round 2.
  • 40% of the grant amount will be provided as an initial release and the remaining 30% will be provided in two cycles based on progress in performance and innovation.

Eligibility Criteria of Learning From Practitioners

  • All faculty and staff affiliated with CBSE are eligible to apply.
  • Proposals can be submitted addressing subject level, grade/teaching level, school and governance level, community, and teacher training.
  • Preference will be given to those proposals which are directly in line with the National New Education Policy 2020.
  • Each participant can apply for only 1 grant in a year.
  • A group of participants can also apply together. The maximum allowed group members are 4.
  • Finalists of this program cannot apply for the same project next year.
  • Applicants must apply for their own project, they cannot be nominated by anyone else for the grant.
  • The application can be submitted in English or Hindi.

Guidelines for Submitting Application

Interested teachers of all the schools affiliated with the board are required to submit their proposals through this Form Link. This form can be filled by using CBSE Digital Edu ID only.

Selection Criteria

A selection committee of CBSE officials, teachers, and researchers will be constituted. This committee will be responsible for reviewing and shortlisting the proposals. They will evaluate the proposals according to:

  • Significance of the problem and its solution.
  • Demonstrated impact of innovation on students, teachers, and the wider education ecosystem.
  • Strategies that have the potential to adopt key components within disciplines and/or across disciplines (ie, how easily can this innovation be adopted by others? Is there a need for special materials or special equipment?)

Post Selection: Growth and Support

Selected candidates will be given a fixed grant of Rs 25,000 in three installments over a period of 1 year. Grants can be used for evidence preparation and documentation and to enhance the program. The amount will be disbursed online to the applicant’s bank account.

  • Finalists will receive mentorship from a network of experienced practitioners and teachers.
  • The finalists of this Program will become part of a community of committed individuals that will serve as a platform for the exchange of ideas and learning.
  • Finalists of this program are expected to submit a detailed report on the project in the following key areas: (Documentation of processes, Guidelines for implementation in varied contexts, and Evidence of impact).
