Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar Campaign for Classes 1 to 12 Students

Swachh Sagar Surakshit Sagar Campaign: India is proud of a vast coastline of more than 7,500 km. However, waste in the marine environment, especially in the form of plastic, is a major concern and a growing international problem. Numerous studies have shown their detrimental effects on marine biodiversity, ecosystems, fisheries, human health, and the economy.

International Coastal Cleanup Day is observed globally on the third Saturday of September every year. This year on September 17, 2022, the Government of India (GoI) along with other voluntary organizations and local society will conduct a cleanliness campaign of “Swachh Sagar, Surakshit Sagar” (Clean Coast, Safe Sea) on the entire coastline of India.

This year’s event also coincides with the celebration of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on the 75th year of India’s independence; Coastal clean-up drives will be conducted at 75 beaches all over the country, involving 75 volunteers for every kilometer of coastline.
