The Ministry of Women & Child Development is celebrating the 5th Rashtriya Poshan Maah 2022 across the country from 1 September till 30th September. In the present year, the objective of Poshan Maah 2022 is to trigger Poshan Maah as Poshan Panchayats through Gram Panchayats with the main focus on “Mahila aur Swasthya” (Women and Health) and Bacha aur Shiksha” (Child and Education).
The 5th Edition of Rashtriya Poshan Month serves as a platform to focus on nutrition and good health. Rashtriya Poshan Maah is also known as National Nutrition Month. The objective of the Fifth Rashtriya Poshan Abhiyaan 2022 is to convert Jan Andolan into Jan Bhagidari to fulfill the vision of Suposh Bharat of the Hon’ble Prime Minister.

Poshan Maah 2022 is being observed as part of the flagship program of the Central Government, Poshan Mission, which aims to improve nutritional outcomes for children below 6 years of age, pregnant women, and lactating mothers. On the occasion of the 5th National Nutrition Abiyaan Month, the Ministry plans to incorporate Gram Panchayats as Poshan Panchayats with the main focus on women’s health and children’s education.
Narendra Modi (Prime Minister of India) started the program on 8 March 2018 from Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. Focusing on the objectives of Rashtriya POSHAN Abhiyaan, the government has launched Mission POSHAN 2.0 as an integrated nutrition support program.
Key Point of Poshan Maah 2022
- Various awareness regarding good nutrition at the ground level through sensitization drives, outreach programs, identification campaigns, cams, and fairs will be organized at the national, state, and panchayat levels.
- Pregnant, lactating women, children under 6 years, and adolescent girls will be provided special attention to realize the vision of “Swasth Bharat“.
- At the state level, two activities will be conducted -“Amma ki Rasoi” and Grandmother’s Kitchen of traditional nutritious recipes.
- At the national level, the creative workshop will be conducted to promote the use of indigenous and local toys for learning in the Anganwadi Centre.
