The Innovation Cell of the Ministry of Education (MoE) and CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) have launched the School Innovation Council (SIC). It is a unique initiative of the board to systematically assist schools in permanently establishing a creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship ecosystem.

SIC (School Innovation Council) will foster the culture of ideation, innovation, entrepreneurship, creative thinking, design thinking, prototyping, out-of-box thinking, and IP commercialization by facilitating training (for teachers), field visits, leadership talks, awareness, orientation sessions, boot camps, national-level exhibitions, hackathons, linking of school innovation ecosystem with higher educational institutions (HEIs), etc. at schools (Annexure-A). So far, more than 3800+ schools have been registered for the SIC, and this process is ongoing.

This initiative will bridge the gap in connecting schools to the Innovation and Entrepreneurial (I&E) enabler ecosystem of the country. SIC (School Innovation Council) will provide a platform for schools, academicians, industry, HEIs, experts, innovators, entrepreneurs, etc. to come together and work in unison to make disruptive advancements in the I&E ecosystem at the school level in the country.

Principals/Heads/School Heads of all CBSE-affiliated schools are advised to set up School Innovation Councils as per the guidelines given on the official SIC website (https://sic.mic.gov.in) and CBSE Board website cbseacademic.nic.in. and be a part of the Innovation Contest and secure funding up to Rs. 2 lahks per innovation.
