Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has released a New Circular regarding “Swachhata Pakhwada 2023” for all CBSE affiliated Schools. As you know, the Department of Drinking Water and Sanitation, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Government of India (GoI) celebrates Swachhta Pakhwada 2023 from 1 September to 15 September 2023.
In order to celebrate the Swachhata Pakhwada Program in a befitting manner for focused participation resulting in cleanliness, sanitation, and hygiene campaigns and other related activities in schools with active participation of students, teachers, and community, schools are requested to Begin the following suggested activities.
Swachhata Pakhwada 2023 Activities
A cleanliness oath can be organized in which all the students and teachers/staff can take the promise in the school assembly.
Conducting meetings (in small groups) between SMC/PTA or parents and teachers in the first week of the fortnight to highlight the importance of cleanliness and hygiene and the importance of hand washing.
Teachers of CBSE-affiliated Schools should inspect the water and sanitation facilities in the school, make a quick assessment of the water sanitation and sanitation facilities, and make proposals/plans to repair and maintain the facilities, if necessary.

Competitions like essay/slogan/poem writing, painting, quiz, etc. can be conducted for the students on cleanliness and hygiene practices in the school.
Hygiene awareness messages will be posted on the school website.
Apart from this, the following activities can be done by the teachers and administration of the school:
- All types of waste materials such as sanitary waste, used and disposed masks, broken furniture, unusable equipment, broken vehicles, etc. should be completely removed from the school premises and disposed of as per the procedure.
- Banning single use of plastic in school premises. Awareness about stopping the use of single-use plastics and reducing plastic pollution by following the 3R (Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle) principle.
- Teachers and students of CBSE-affiliated schools should propagate the theme of Pakhwada among family members, neighbors, and citizens in nearby areas.
- Daily cleaning and disinfection of frequently used surfaces.
