CBSE Education Board published the latest circular regarding “Mission Life Style For Environment 2024 (LiFE)” on its official web portal on 21 March 2024. All the important details regarding the CBSE Notification “Mission Life Style For Environment (LiFE)” are discussed in this article. LiFE program activity was introduced by the Honorable Prime Minister of India at COP26 in Glasgow on 1 November 2021 as a “conscious and deliberate use rather than mindless and destructive consumption” and a mass movement to protect and preserve the environment. Its objective is to inspire individuals and communities to adopt a lifestyle that is in harmony with nature and does not harm it.

Mission LiFE (Life Style For Environment) is an India-led global people’s movement to promote individual and community action to protect and conserve the environment. It main aims of Mission LiFE are to mobilize a large number of people to actively participate in the campaign and encourage individuals to adopt a lifestyle that is beneficial to both personal well-being and the environment. It also raises awareness about the importance of conserving resources and using them wisely.
Keeping the above in mind, the following activities of Mission LiFE are suggested for schools to promote mission life and create awareness about environmental concerns among the stakeholders:
Schools affiliated with CBSE can participate in and organize this LiFE Mission activities for students as per the calendar of activities at Annexure – I. Schools of the CBSE Board are requested to submit a brief report (through the portal which will be shared with all shortly) about the Mission LiFE activities at the end of the academic year.
The CBSE Education Board has launched a handbook titled “Mission Zero for Environment” for schools which is available on the official CBSE Academic web portal. This Mission Zero for Environment booklet provides guidelines for schools to achieve zero carbon footprint through conservation in 5 key areas namely energy, biodiversity, water, waste, and transport.
In this regard, the CBSE Education Board will conduct a series of webinars for heads/teachers of CBSE-affiliated schools across the country on conducting 05 types of audits with the help of the “Mission Zero for Environment” Handbook. There will be no fee to participate in these workshops. Details of this workshop will be shared later.
