CBSE Science Exhibition 2022-23: Science is inextricably linked with our lives and helps us understand the world around us better. The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is taking several initiatives to create curiosity and develop scientific attitudes among the learners. Initiatives like these encourage learners to create, innovate and become more responsible.
The organization of the CBSE Science Exhibition 2022-23 is one such initiative. The aim of the activity is to provide a platform for students to demonstrate the construction of knowledge by linking new ideas to existing concepts.
The CBSE Science Exhibition for the academic session 2022-23 will be organized in the months of October-December 2022 at the regional and then at the national level.
Theme and Sub–Themes for the CBSE Science Exhibition 2022-23
Theme: Technology and Toys.
Sub-Theme: There is a total of 7 Sub-Theme for CBSE Science Exhibition 2022-23:
- Advancement in information and communication technology
- Eco-Friendly Materials
- Health and Cleanliness
- Transport and Innovation
- Environmental Concerns
- Historical Development with Current Innovation
- Mathematics for Us
The CBSE Board invites students from affiliated schools (Classes 6 to 11) to prepare research-based science projects or demonstrations that are core to any of the above-listed sub-themes of the core theme Technology and Toys. Students can register to submit and showcase their projects with the help of their schools.
Registration Fee of CBSE Science Exhibition 2022-23
The registration fee for the science exhibition as per the details given below must be submitted through an online payment gateway.
For Indian Schools | Rs 1500 per registering team |
For Foreign Schools | Rs 3000 per registering team |
Who Can Participate?
The students can participate in any of the two categories:
Category I | Classes 6 to 8 |
Category II | Classes 9 to 11 |
A registered School Team will be represented by either an individual student or two students of the same category and one mentor Science teacher.
The exhibits will be assessed by a team of experts as per the following Criteria
Creativity and Imagination | 20% |
Originality and Innovativeness | 15% |
Scientific thought/ principle/ approach | 15% |
Technical skills, workmanship, craftsmanship, etc. | 15% |
Educational value, scalability, and utility for society in future | 15% |
Economics (low cost), portability, and durability | 10% |
Presentation – effectiveness of display and relevant explanations | 10% |
Guidelines of Participation
All schools willing to participate need to register online and remit fees on the official website through this Direct Link between 30th September to 17th October 2022. The last date for registration is 14th October 2022 and payment confirmation from the bank is 18th October 2022.
A participating school may register a maximum of two teams. The names of the students and the mentor teacher once registered will not be changed at any stage of the exhibition. The participating school team at the regional and national levels should remain the same.

The sub-topic/theme once selected cannot be changed. Similarly, the project title cannot be changed.
Each registered team will be provided with a unique login credential on the CBSE Science Exhibition Portal for online submission of the project.
The student/ team project may be-
- an investigation-based study;
- application of basic principles of Science and Technology;
- a novel solution/indigenous design to a problem/challenge.
Care should be taken to use eco-friendly materials in the preparation of the exhibition. Teams will have to submit the details of their respective projects (title, description, list of materials used, images, videos) on the portal using their unique login credentials within the deadline (31 October 2022) for submission.
Screening of entries will be done before the regional/national level exhibitions.
The regional scale of the exhibition will be held at various locations across the country. The information about the locations will be notified (on the CBSE website) and will be communicated to individual schools on their email ids.
The participating school/team will bear all expenses related to participating in the program. The participating teams will make their own arrangements for their stay/food at the exhibition venue/city.

The best twenty-four exhibits selected at each regional level venue (number may increase or decrease depending on the quality of performance) will be eligible to participate in the national level exhibition (date and venue details will be communicated).
Cash prizes along with certificates will be awarded to the best entries selected at the national level.
The names of the winners of the CBSE National Science Exhibition will be forwarded for consideration as entries in the National Exhibition of Children’s Scientists to be organized by NCERT in 2023. The confirmation of participation in the exhibition is subject to their selection for the same. Winners can also get direct entry, subject to their selection, to participate in the Science Exhibition organized by the Initiative for Research and Innovation in Science (IRIS).
The CBSE Board would organize an online webinar for participating students and mentor teachers on 14th October 2022 from 3.00 to 4.00 pm which may be viewed on this YouTube Channel.
All school heads are requested to encourage the participation of students in the CBSE Science Exhibition. This activity not only develops a scientific attitude among the learners but also gives them a chance to develop and test innovative solutions for real-life challenges.
