CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has released a new circular regarding Guidelines For Students Suffering From Diabetes. CBSE Board has issued a new notification for all students struggling with Diabetes and will appear in the board exam, about which all the candidates should know.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued a circular mentioning various facilities that will be given to candidates suffering from Type 1 diabetes in the upcoming CBSE Class 10, and 12 annual board exams 2024.
According to the latest CBSE Official Update, the board recognizes the problems faced by students with type-1 diabetes while taking the CBSE Board Exams 2024 and has issued special guidelines and standard operating procedures for students to use these facilities.
As per the latest official guidelines, students of classes 10 and 12 will be allowed to carry the following items in a transparent bag/box in the CBSE Board examination hall:
- Water bottle (500 ml)
- Sugar pills/chocolates/candy
- Fruits like banana/apple/orange
- Snack items such as sandwiches and any high-protein foods
- Necessary medicines as per doctor’s prescription
- Glucometer and glucose test strips
- Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) machine, flash glucose Monitoring (FGM) machine, and/or insulin pump.
SOPs issued by CBSE
Standard operating procedures (SOPs) were also issued by the exam conducting board to allow students to access these benefits. The essential guidelines for Diabetes students include:
Students of classes 10 and 12 will be required to declare that they are suffering from Type-1 Diabetes during registration/submission of LOC.

Schools/students/parents shall reach the CBSE annual board examination center at least a day before the commencement of the examination and inform the Center Superintendent about the items to be carried by the students.
Even on the day of the CBSE Board 2024 examination, the students of classes 10 and 12 will have to reach school at least 45 minutes before the commencement of the examination. They have to reach the examination hall by 9:45 am.
Students of Board Exam 2024 will have to upload specific documents on the official portal to access the features during the CBSE 2024 board exams. These include medical expert recommendations for the use of CGM/FGM/insulin pumps during the CBSE annual board examination and reassurance to parents that these devices will not pose a safety risk.
