Aryabhata Ganit Challenge 2023 for Classes 8 to 10 Students

Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) released a new circular regarding Āryabhaṭa Ganit Challenge 2023 for school students of classes 8 to 10. All the information about this Āryabhaṭa Ganit Challenge 2023 is discussed in this blog post.

Application of Mathematics in daily life requires the development of certain competencies and to foster such competencies among students through joyful assessment, the Aryabhatta Mathematics Challenge (AGC) is organized by CBSE. This Aryabhata Ganit Test will mainly focus on the extent to which students can apply mathematics in their daily lives.

The feedback received from the test performance will help the board in the application of mathematics in daily life to schools and students.

Levels/Stages of Arybhata Ganit Challenge

The AGC will be conducted at two levels:

Level 1: School-level Arybhata competition will be organized by the school. A question paper for the Level 1 competition will be made available by CBSE through its portal. Schools affiliated with CBSE will download the question paper and conduct the exam.

Level 2: The national level Aryabhata Mathematics competition will be conducted by CBSE as computer-based.

Eligibility of Aryabhata Ganit Competition 2023

  • Level 1 (School Level Competition): All school students in classes VIII-X CBSE-affiliated school.
  • Level 2: Top three students from each CBSE-affiliated school registered for the first stage.

Aryabhata Ganit Exam Pattern 2023

At both levels, the test will be of one hour with Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs Questions) only and the total weightage will be 40 marks and there will be no negative marking.

Process of Conduct of Test and Selection

The exam will be conducted in two phases. All details about both phases are discussed below:

First Stage of Arybhata Ganit Challenge 2023

An affiliated CBSE board school can apply through the link on or before 25 August 2023 by 5.30 PM. No fee will be charged for the first phase. Click this Apply Link to register for this challenge.

In the period from August 28 to September 05, 2023, the registered schools will be made available through the official Portal question paper along with the answer key.

Registered CBSE-affiliated schools will conduct the test using the question paper to identify the top three students. If more than three students obtain equal marks at the top level, a suitable screening test may be conducted by the schools at their level to identify the top three students.

The schools will register the names of these top three students from September 15, 2023, to September 21, 2023, by paying an online fee of Rs.900/-. The active link to pay fees online can be accessed only by those schools that are registered for the Aryabhatta Ganit Competition (AGC) before the last date.

Second Stage of Arybhata Ganit Challenge 2023

The computer-based test (CBT) will be conducted by the board on October 3, 2023, for the top three students registered from each school. Only those schools which have completed the first phase of the Aryabhata challenge will be eligible for the second phase.

The detailed modalities of the conduct of the Aryabhata Ganit Challenge 2023 will be communicated to the schools that have registered the students of classes VIII-X for the challenge.

On successful completion of the second-level computer test, merit certificates will be given to the top 100 students from each CBSE region.

Fees of Aryabhata Ganit Competition 2023

  • Level 1: There will be no fee for participation at level 1 (school level).
  • Level II: Rs. 900/- per school will be charged for appearing in the Aryabhata Ganit challenge at the second level.
  • The fee will be accepted only through online modes such as Debit Card/Credit Card/NEFT at the time of registration. The fee once paid will not be refunded.

Recognition of Schools Promoting the Aryabhata Ganit Challenge

In the first phase, 10 schools from each region with maximum student participation will be given appreciation certificates by the board.

All schools can encourage their classes of 8 to 10 students to participate in the Aryabhatta Mathematics Challenge 2023 and take advantage of the opportunity to identify and develop the mathematical skills and potential of students. Participation and performance in this Aryabhata challenge may also be acknowledged in the student’s portfolio.
