About Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22
Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar (SVP) was instituted in 2016-17 by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (now Ministry of Education), Department of School Education and Literacy, Government of India to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in sanitation & hygiene practices in schools. The clear objective of the awards is to honor schools that have taken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan.
Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22
The Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar has been instituted by the Ministry of Education, Government of India to recognize, inspire and celebrate excellence in sanitation and hygiene practice in schools.
The objective of SVP is to felicitate schools that have taken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan. Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar is based on an IT-enabled assessment of WASH infrastructure, clean practices, and COVID-19 appropriate behavior.
Key objectives of Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar
- Recognizing, motivating, and celebrating excellence in cleanliness and hygiene.
- To honor schools that have taken significant steps towards fulfilling the mandate of Swachh Vidyalaya Abhiyan and adhering to the standards of cleanliness and hygiene.

Eligibility for Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2022
The awards will be open to both rural & urban schools for the following categories:
- Government Schools
- Government Aided Schools
- Private Schools
How to apply in Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2021-22
All government, government-aided and private schools in both rural and urban areas are invited to apply for the Swachh Vidyalaya Puraskar 2022. Schools will be registered with the UDISE+ code of the school. Schools will first complete the primary information section in the prescribed format and submit it.
Step II: Fill online Survey
If you do not have the UDISE+ code, download the Data Capture Format (DCF) and submit it to the Block/District/State level office to generate the UDISE+ code.
Stages of the awards process for SVP 2021-22

About Swachh Bharat Swachh Vidyalaya
Swachh Bharat: Swachh Vidyalaya is a national campaign running ‘Clean India: Clean Schools’. A key feature of the campaign is to ensure that every school in India has a functioning and well-maintained water, sanitation, and hygiene facilities. Water, sanitation, and hygiene in schools refer to the combination of technological and human development components that are necessary to build a healthy school environment and to develop or support appropriate health and hygiene behaviors.
The technical components include facilities for drinking water, hand washing, toilets, and soap in the school premises for use by children and teachers. Human development components are activities that promote situations within the school and children’s practices that help prevent water, sanitation, and hygiene-related diseases.
The cleanliness and hygiene of the school depend upon the process of capacity building of teachers, community members, SMCs, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) community-based organizations (CBOs), and education administrators. Water, Sanitation, and Sanitation in School aims to make a clear impact on children’s health and hygiene through improving the health and hygiene practices of children and their families and communities.
It aims to improve curriculum and teaching methods while promoting sanitation practices within schools and community ownership of water and sanitation facilities. It improves children’s health, school enrollment, attendance, and retention and paves the way for a new generation of healthy children. It is the role of policymakers, government representatives, citizens, and parents to ensure that every child attends a school that has access to safe drinking water, proper sanitation, and hygiene facilities.
