There is a renewed interest in yoga and health applications. The COVID-19 Pandemic has led to the introduction of virtual yoga classes, developing props, smart mats, AI-powered applications to assess stress and relaxation, and wellness solutions around yoga and various other treatments of late.

The global market size of Yoga was $80 billion in the year 2017 and is expected to grow at a CAGR of 13% over the next 8 years to reach $216 billion in the year 2025.

Startup Yoga Challenge Competition 2022 at MyGov Portal by the Ministry of AYUSH in partnership with Startup India and Invest India, envisaged inviting individuals developing yoga-related products (devices or software applications or both) to track treatment delivery and outcome trajectories over time and will provide valuable health information about these interventions.

The main aim of the start-up challenge in yoga and wellness applications will be to identify and nurture key talent and innovators in this field and develop smart novel products in this area.

Detailed Eligibility Criteria

Educational Institutions, Hospitals, Universities, Registered Trusts/Societies/NGOs or Yoga Institutes/Colleges, or Representatives from any Indian Company.

The company should be incorporated under the Companies Act 1956/2013, primarily MSME (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise) as defined in the MSMED Act, 2006 and any company registered as a Start-up, as defined and recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India (GoI) and majority share (more than 51%) of the applicant entity should be in India.

International Yoga Day 2022

The Union Ministry of AYUSH has kept “Yoga for Humanity” as the theme for International Day of Yoga 2022, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced in his monthly “Mann Ki Baat” address. The eighth edition of International Yoga 2022 (IYD 2022) will be conducted on June 21, with the main event in Mysore, Karnataka. Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi also urged Indians to participate in the celebrations with enthusiasm.

PM Narendra Modi said this year’s theme was chosen after much deliberation and consultation and aptly portrays how Yoga has served humanity in mitigating sufferings during the COVID-19 Pandemic. He said that Yoga will bring people together through kindness and compassion during the post-Covid geopolitical crisis and promote a sense of unity across the globe. The theme of last year’s event (International Day of Yoga 2021) was ‘Yoga for Wellness’.
