CBSE launches FLN Mission in Line with NIPUN Bharat Guidelines 2021

Launching of CBSE Foundational Literacy and Numeracy (FLN) mission in line with NIPUN BHARAT Guidelines in CBSE Schools. CBSE Digital Education provides complete information about FLN Mission in line with NIPUN Bharat Guidelines.

New Education Policy 2020

The ability to read and write, and to perform basic operations with numbers, is an essential foundation and an essential condition for all future schooling and lifelong learning.

The New National Education Policy 2020 recommends, “The highest priority of the education system will be to achieve universal basic literacy and numeracy in primary school by 2025. This remaining policy will be relevant to our students only when it addresses the most fundamental learning needs (such as reading, writing, and arithmetic at the basic level) is achieved first.”

NIPUN Bharat Guidelines 2021

The Ministry of Education and Government of India has launched the National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy (NIPUN) to ensure that every child in the country mandatory attains foundational literacy and numeracy by the end of Grade 3, by 2026-27.

In order to implement NIPUN Bharat Guidelines in its schools, the Central Board of Secondary Education in collaboration with the Central Square Foundation has launched Professional Development Course on FLN for capacity building of teachers.

The course is designed with the aim of bridging the learning gap in the elementary grades, developing teachers’ ability to understand concepts in the FLN domain, and equipping them with the tools and resources to help them in the classroom.

FLN Corner on CBSE Academic Website

To facilitate CBSE affiliated Schools in FLN India Mission; CBSE has launched FLN Corner on the Board’s website at CBSE Academic. Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), FLN Toolkit, and Assessment Bank have been provided for the teachers and various e-learning have been integrated for easy and convenient learning among the students.

Schools can access various useful resource material from FLN Corner which will be updated from time to time with the suitable and latest material from NCERT, CSF, Pratham Foundation, etc.

Professional Development Course on FLN

This course is divided into 3 sub-courses. Teachers or School Leaders will have to enroll for the course only once and revisit their course on a weekly basis to access the latest sub-course. Teachers or School Leaders will be eligible for a Course Completion Certificate only after completing all 3 sub-courses.

How to Access the Professional Development Course on FLN from DIKSHA App?

Step I: Download the DIKSHA App on your Android smartphone through Google Play Store.

Or visit the official website of DIKSHA to open the course on DIKSHA using a computer desktop/ laptop through the internet.

Step II: Sign in using an existing DIKSHA account or register yourself on DIKSHA using your email id or mobile number.

Step III: Explore the DIKSHA Portal platform under the ‘Courses’ tab and you may find the ‘Introduction to Foundational Literacy and Numeracy’ course under the CBSE training portal.

Step IV: Get your E- Certificate from the DIKSHA platform itself.


How to Access the Professional Development Course on FLN from Google Classroom Platform?

Step I: Click the Google Classroom link to access the course.

Step II: The Google Classroom link will be changed once a cohort is filled.

Step III: Teachers are advised to join only one Cohort and use the link available at the time of joining.

Step IV: Participants can attend classroom and assessment using their ID only.

Step V: Those teachers who are completing the course through Google Classroom can download their e-certificate through CBSE Training Portal after 6 September 2021.

Participants can easily explore all the above options through the FLN Corner available on the official CBSE academic website. On successful completion of the course, the participants can obtain their e-certificate either through the DIKSHA platform or through Google Classroom as appropriate.

  1. My colleague has completed this FLN course through Diksha Portal on 24th August’21 but yet certificate is not available on the platform. Kindly guide what to do..
