Creative Writing Competition 2021 by CBSE and NCERT for Class 6 to 12 Students

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in collaboration with NCERT is organizing a creative writing competition to celebrate the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.

Levels of Competition

  • School Level
  • Regional Level
  • National Level

CBSE will organize this competition at two levels (school & regional) for all its affiliated schools except Kendriya Vidyalayas and Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.

Competition at School Level – organized by individual School

  • Schools will conduct the competition in online mode from 24 June to 19 July 2021 as per the following details:

  • Paragraph (100-150 words)
  • Essay (400-500 words)
  • Poem
  • Children of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
  • Transformation of Tyag Mal to Tegh Bahadur
For students of Classes 9-10
  • Paragraph (150-200 words)
  • Essay (500-700 words)
  • Poem
  • Life of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
  • Establishment of Anandpur Sahib
For Students of Classes 11-12
  • Paragraph (200-250 words)
  • Essay (700-1000 words)
  • Poem
  • Journey of Guru Tegh Bahadur (Punjab & other regions)
  • The teaching of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji
  • Students can choose a subject and a writing form.
  • Paragraph/essay/poem can be submitted in Hindi or in the English language.
  • Schools will complete the evaluation of entries by 24 July 2021 and shortlist one entry per category per writing form for further submission to CBSE.
  • Selected entries should be submitted online at the following link from 24 July to 30 July 2021 – Submit Online
  • Please Note: Entry can be submitted as a Word file, PDF file, or JPG file not exceeding 10 MB.
  • Schools will give participation certificates to all their students participating in the Creative Writing Competition at this stage.

Competition at Regional Level – Organized by CBSE

  • The students selected by the schools will participate at the regional level in the month of September 2021.
  • Topic or Theme will be given by CBSE from the life and times of Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji.
  • The competition will be conducted in all the above-mentioned three categories and in all the above-mentioned writing forms (Paragraph, Essay, and Poem).
  • All the participants will be given an e-certificate by CBSE.
  • The board will forward the top 200 participants (including all categories and writing forms) from each CBSE region to NCERT for the national level competition.

Competition at National Level – conducted by NCERT

  • The National Level Competition will be organized by NCERT in association with SCERT through the MyGov platform from 1 January to 28 February 2022.
  • Awards will be declared by NCERT.
