CBSE Term 2 Board Exams 2022 Not Cancelled, SC Dismisses Petition to Cancel Offline Board Exam

CBSE Term 2 Board Exams 2022 Latest Updates: The Supreme Court on 23 February 2022 (Wednesday) dismissed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) seeking cancellation of offline examinations for classes 10 and 12 to be conducted by all state boards, CBSE, ICSE.

Supreme Court refuses to entertain a plea by the CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education), National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) to cancel Class X and Class XII offline exams, and other state boards, class Xth and XIIth exams will now be conducted as scheduled for the ongoing session.

We will not issue any direction, the Supreme Court said while dismissing the petition. The officials are yet to decide the rules and dates. If the decision is not in conformity with the rules then it is open to challenge,” the court said.

The bench of SC Justice AM Khanwilkar, Justice Dinesh Maheshwari and Justice CT Ravikumar dismissed the plea, saying it was “bad advice and premature” as the authorities are yet to take a decision regarding conducting the examination.

Central Board of Secondary Education told the supreme court that board examinations should be conducted in offline mode as the situation of the covid-19 pandemic has improved. The central government had also introduced vaccination for adolescents and the board candidates are part of the eligible ones.

CBSE Class 10, 12 board exam 2022 will be conducted in offline mode from 26 April 2022, while CISCE (Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations) is likely to conduct ICSE Class X and ISC Class XII semester 2 exams in the last week of April 2022.

The state boards including Assam, Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan, and Maharashtra will start their board exams in March-April 2022.

It has been said in the petition that the state board remained a mute spectator to the present situation and did not take the timely decisions regarding the declaration of examination and final results of crores of class 10 and 12 students.
