According to people familiar with the matter, CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) has decided to switch to its old practice of conducting board exams for classes X and XII only once a year from the academic year 2022-23.

Additionally, CBSE Curriculum 2022-23 Class IX and X stated that the assessment scheme will have an 80 marks component for Board examination (class 10) and Annual Examination (class 9) in all subjects except compulsory subjects to be assessed internally along with a 20 marks component of Internal Assessment.

Board Eliminates Major Topics from Syllabus

Among the topics removed from CBSE Class 10 Syllabus 2022-23, major themes include Democracy and Diversity, Mughal Durbar, and Faiz Ahmed Faiz’s Poems from the syllabus. Chapters on the Popular Struggle Movement and the Challenges of Democracy have also been removed.

When asked about these changes, the board authority said that its decision to reduce the syllabus is in line with the recommendations of the National Council of Educational Research and Training.
