CBSE Class 10, 12 Board Exams 2021 – CBSE Board Exam 2021 Updates

CBSE Board Exam 2021

Amidst growing cases of Coronavirus in the country, the Central Board of Secondary Education earlier this month announced the cancellation of Class 10th CBSE board exams and the postponement of Class 12 CBSE board examinations.

Following the CBSE decision, several state boards also postponed and cancelled the board exam and other competitive examinations. In addition, in view of the deteriorating COVID-19 status, the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) Class 10 board examination has also been cancelled and students have the option to appear later.

Although, The Council for the Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) announced that Class 10 students would later have the option of writing the exam or being evaluated based on Alternative Criteria (or optional criteria).

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is planning to release the result of class X on the basis of objective criteria. Like last year, this time also the board has decided to prepare the result of the students on this basis.

Internal Evaluation: These would be the marks that the schools have given to the students of 10th standard during interns conducted after the school reopened in January to March. The schools have already submitted internal marks. While the board has not explicitly stated so, experts believe that the final result will not be based on internal scores only.

The CBSE board understands that internal assessment is slightly biased and often outweighs the more lenient view of a child’s learning outcomes. Keeping this in mind, the Board has asked the experts to suggest the weight which should be given for internal evaluation. Simply put, just because a student has scored 20 out of 20 in his / her internal assessment does not mean that he/she will be awarded 100 out of 100 in the final exam.

The experts are also attempting to include periodic test scores in the assessment criteria for CBSE Class 10 students. “The best way to reduce the possibility of any bias would be to look for the annual performance of the students. Many also used innovative project-based assignments to grade student progress. By using these, better information can be given about the actual progress of the child in the year.
